| | The Vertical Skate Company, Inc. |
We were approached with the concept of a roller skate that could
somehow attach to any standard shoe, along with pushing the
boundaries of performance in the skating world.
We solved complex problems and created innovative
solutions like the self-articulating steering system
and the binding releases for the wings. In less than
9 month we designed, tested, tooled, and went into full
scale manufacturing of this product. In addition, we also
created the packaging, and marketing materials for the Vertical Skate Company Inc..

| | HTP, Inc. |
HTP Inc. came to us with their existing product, which was a hand
made orthotic used to treat people suffering from 'plantar fasciitis'
(heel pain). In a matter of 4 months we had redesigned their product
to work with a variety of sizes, created multi-cavity tooling, dialed
in materials to meet the stringent specifications, setup the production
and began complete manufacturing of the Heel Seats. We then produced
and packaged the first run of parts which consisted of approximately
133,000 parts. We also created the e-commerce website that powers HTP,
you can find it at: www.heelseats.com

| | North American Medical Products, Inc. |
In today's climate of human to human catastrophic disease transmission
we must provide every possible protection. For the safety and security
of medical healthcare givers in the treatment of patients with high-risk
diseases we designed, developed and produced a disposable needle
protection system with a built in safe guard to prevent the caregiver
from accidental needle-stick injury when drawing blood or injecting medications.
Prevention of the accidental transmission of HIV/AIDS and other infectious
diseases such as Hepatitis B is the primary goal for this device. This product
passed all required tests and evaluations and will be widely used throughout
the medical and healthcare profession and institutions.

Molar Mate™ |
Our client wanted a caricature device that would provide for a fun, interactive, and entertaining way to be sure children actually enjoyed brushing their teeth. The overall appearance and stature along with the required functions were equally challenging to the GID designer who had to develop 2 and 3 minute timers, a clock, light show with sound, extra large and easy to clean tooth brush holders, rubber feet, and more into a battery powered child proof product. Collaboration with the client was often and ongoing throughout the entire product development process. A custom integrated circuit (IC) was designed and specially fabricated to accommodate the variety of operational functions and user interface requirements. Prototypes were built for focus group studies and pre mass production units were produced for a major retail store trade show and product launch. GID and the client are laying the ground work for additional products to expand the line.
GID Services provided for the Scent Clip Enforcer® included the following:
- Feasibility Analysis
- 3D Virtual Design
- Comprehensive Product Development
- Electronic circuitry with custom IC and PCB design and fabrication
- Functional Prototype design and fabrication
- Injection Mold tool design and manufacture
- Graphic design and artwork development
- Product retail package design and manufacture

Scent Clip Enforcer® |
This project required a compact, portable, battery powered device that would emit a wide variety of animal scents and lures. It had to be designed, developed and manufactured at competitive prices in relatively small production runs. GID was also challenged to develop the product in such a way that the user could refill, replace, and change out different scents and lures without coming in to physical contact with these pungent potions. The intended market was initially identified as hunters. However, during the feasibility analysis effort GID learned that animal biologists and nature photographers represented a significant market segment for this product. Understanding the inventor’s original product idea and combining it with the requirements of the intended markets for this product in addition to those of scent and lure manufacturers, GID designed, developed and produced this electromechanical device to meet all objectives.

APU |
Background: Today’s transportation of goods throughout the USA is largely accomplished by Class 7 and 8 diesel trucks (18 wheelers) that for driver safety and in accordance with state and federal regulations must stop to permit the driver to rest usually 10 out of each 24 hours. Common practice during these ‘rest stops’ is to keep the main diesel engine running at idle to provide power for the driver’s comfort (air conditioning and heating), operation of appliances, battery charging, maintain engine block temperatures to prevent problems associated with’ cold starts’ and to keep the diesel fuel at recommended temperature to prevent ‘gelling’ when the ambient temperature is too cold or freezing.
The problem: Diesel engines are least efficient when operating at idle consuming more fuel and emitting higher levels of pollution; (e.g. NOx, Particulate Matter, CO2, CO, and Volatile Organic Compounds). Long duration idling of diesel engines wastes over 1 billion gallons/year of diesel fuel not to mention additional wear and tear on the engine itself.
The Solution: There is an on-going national effort to reduce diesel idling to conserve limited fuel supplies and reduce idling emissions to protect human health and the environment.
In response to a client that had the foresight to be concerned about excess fuel consumption and harm to our environment, GID designed and built a completely functional APU (Auxiliary Power Unit) ready for installation on Class 7 & 8 diesel trucks that permits the main engine to be shut down and yet provide all the necessary power for driver comfort, use of auxiliary equipment, and maintenance of required engine block and diesel fuel temperatures. The APU consumes 0.2 gal/hr compared to the main engine at idle which consumes 0.8-1.5 gal/hr. Also the APU provides significant emission reductions compared to the idling of the main engines which according to DOE (Department of Energy) estimates are responsible 7.6 million tons/yr of CO2, 140,000 tons/yr of NOx and 2,400 tons/yr of CO.
